ALTERENERGY for local SMEs, technicians and citizens in Puglia Region

Within the Strategic Project ALTERENERGY - CBC IPA Adriatic 2007-2013, a serious of training days dedicated to capacity building activity was held in Bari, reserved to local SMEs operating in the Adriatic area, public administrations, professional engineers, architects and other sector professionals. An additional laboratory for citizens was held in Sant’Agata di Puglia.

ALTERENERGY’s aim is not only to finance specific pilot interventions, but mainly to encourage, through a participatory approach, the use of good methods and practices and therefore improve the local energy planning skills (Capacity Building) following the most recent EU guidelines. In fact, ALTERENERGY wants to mainly offer assistance to develop abilities and competences in the sector; secondly to reinforce the institutional and administrative capacities specifically related to the programming and management of European and National Funds linked to the energy sector and thirdly to create organizational structures capable of guaranteeing efficient management systems and the participation of members involved with energy sustainability.

In Puglia Region the activity was carried out by Puglia Region - Mediterranean Department (ALTERENERGY lead partner). In particular, a cycle of 4 seminars for the benefit of local SMEs operating in the Adriatic area was held in Bari (February-Marche 2015), in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of Bari. Aim: to improve the capacity of the SMEs to access and exploit the opportunities related to the new energy and energy efficiency markets and thus increase their competitiveness.

Furthermore, 5 training days dedicated to capacity building activity were held in Bari to public administrations responsible for the local energy policies, professional engineers, architects and other sector professionals. This initiative was held on 21-22-27-28th May and 10th June 2015 with the technical support of the Technology and Innovation Regional Agency (ARTI Puglia), in cooperation with “Ambiente Italia srl”, the Order of Engineers and the Order of Architects of the Province of Bari. Focus  themes: Energy efficiency of buildings, energy/financial management, photovoltaic and thermal solar, smart city.

Finally an additional laboratory for citizens was held in Sant’Agata di Puglia at the Municipal Theatre, on the 17th April 2015. The small municipality in the province of Foggia has been selected amongst other towns in Puglia Region to apply for and experiment with the sustainable management models of energy resources, costing about 2 million Euros. Sant'Agata di Puglia, together with 62 other target communities selected across the Adriatic area, will soon become a model, a pilot case in the field of renewable energy and energy conservation and it will become part of a virtuous chain of small and medium business in this field.
