Investments in the energy field: launch of the “ALTERENERGY” production chain

Start up for an innovative production chain of small and medium enterprises operating in the energy field in the Adriatic area. The ALTERENERGY Strategic Project, funded within the 2007 - 2013 IPA Adriatic Programme, is entitled to direct a unique internationalization process in the fields of energy saving and renewable energy. The European territorial cooperation has the task of weaving the meshes of a forward-looking strategy, which adds from Bari another element to the construction of the "sustainable" Adriatic area.

The Business to Business meetings organized at the Fiera del Levante (25th - 26th June 2015) by the Mediterranean Department of the Apulia Region (ALTERENERGY lead partner), in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Bari and the Internationalization Department of the Apulia Region, are evidence of a real support to investments and to technologies transfer for the 8 countries involved in the wide project partnership: Italy, Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.

"The numbers recorded in Belgrade (Serbia), in the space of the business meeting of the RENEXPO Western Balkans Fair, gave the idea of the needs and potential of about 60 SMEs involved” - said Bernardo Notarangelo, Director of the Mediterranean Department of Puglia Region.
Now, in Puglia, new joint business bilateral meetings between companies and investors aim to  consolidate the existing relationships triggered in the 300 BtoB of last spring, and to activate new ones. The network created with ALTERENERGY is in perspective aware of the opportunities that will be offered by the new 2014-2020 European programming. The hope is that the consolidated partnership finds itself working together with the public and business system in order to continue the development of an ambitious and brave mission".

"The ALTERENERGY Project is one of the possible responses to the needs of a policy that combines smart internationalization, innovation and sustainability - adds Giovanna Genchi, Director of the Internationalization Department of Puglia Region - The regional economic development policies are focused on green energy and strategic and competitive repositioning of the Apulian companies in international markets. The aim is, in particular, the achievement of the 20-20-20 European objectives".

"The SMEs of both sides of the sea express above all the need to build relation systems making it possible to act on a single market - says Giuseppe Riccardi, Vice-President of the Chamber of Commerce of Bari - The intermediary organizations of the Adriatic basin such as the Chambers of Commerce, the productive districts and category associations, are ready to support the knowledge of multi-target territories. The matching between companies and investors has already obtained excellent feedback. "

“Acquiring and exchanging knowledge for a wide-ranging dialogue: the added value given by the European territorial cooperation, with ALTERENERGY, offers the opportunity to develop initiatives and carry out concrete actions - says Claudio Polignano, Alterenergy responsible for Puglia Region – The attention of the two-day experience in Bari is reserved to small and medium enterprises for BtoB meetings, in-depth sessions on the latest innovations and possibilities of funding for energy, in addition to study visits in advanced Apulian enterprises".

But the strategic project, with a total budget of 12.5 Mln Euro, operates beyond the local economic development and the internationalization of the productive sectors, through a virtuous cycle that implies the activation of tangible and intangible investments for more than 60 small communities of the Adriatic area. In particular, 2 infrastructural intervention pilot projects (in Apulia and Albania) and 6 demonstration projects (in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Greece) have been carried out.  In addition, a number of benefits in cultural, social, tourism and technological terms: financial analysis for the real implementation of all feasibility studies produced by the partnership, awareness campaigns to enhance the "public audience" and a participatory approach to energy planning.

The Profiles of the companies involved in the ALTERENERGY partnership are collected in the “ALTERENERGY Small and Medium Enterprises Catalogue”, also available online on the www.alter-energy.eu website where you can find, among other things, a section dedicated to "Business opportunities for SMES", with information on investment and financing opportunities in the 8 project partner countries, produced with the support of Informest Consulting Srl.
