Energetic sustainability, the ALTERENERGY model in Puglia region: new brochure online

Competence development for the management of a local sustainable and animated territory, community energy planning based on analysis and evaluations, pilot interventions on infrastructures and sustainable mobility: these are the main actions realized in Sant’Agata di Puglia within the Strategic Project ALTERENERGY, co-financed from the CBC Programme IPA Adriatic 2007/13.

Sant’Agata di Puglia is the regional target municipality, selected through public procedure in August 2013, where the model of intervention “ALTERENERGY” (Energy Sustainability for Adriatic Small Communities), was realized through four main actions led by the Mediterranean Department of Puglia Region, with the scientific support of the Regional Agency for Technology and Innovation (ARTI Puglia):

- SKILLS DEVELOPMENT for technicians and administrators.

- COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND AWARENESS RAISING, including citizen and stakeholders along with theatrical workshops and shows including children of primary schools.

- REVIEW OF THE SUSTAINABLE ENERGY ACTION PLAN (SEAP) for better focusing future municipal investments, together with studies, executive planning of infrastructural interventions and of sustainable mobility ones.

- PROJECT PILOT INTERVENTIONS of specific maintenance for ensuring the energy sustainability of three buildings (two schools and a previous hotel, “La Cisterna”), along with the purchase and use of an electrically powered bus for urban public transport.

As in Puglia, many other small communities have been selected along  the basin area of the Adriatic Sea. In Italy – in the regions of Abruzzo, Emilia Romagna,  Friuli Venezia Giulia, Marche, Molise, Veneto, abroad, in Albania, Bosnia Herzigovina, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. In total, 63 municipalities have experimented the “ALTERENERGY model of intervention”. Thanks to the financial support of the project, these communities are on their way to reach the objectives of sustainability as in Europe “20-20-20”.

Promoting and raising awareness on the advantages of sustainable energy, developing replicable models, optimizing political and financial resources, involving  public administrators, citizens, economic operators, universities, research institutes, energy and media agencies. These are the basis on which the international net of the ALTERENERGY partnership is constructed, making the most of the opportunities offered by the European Territorial Cooperation and for the benefits of energy efficiency integrated investments for the local communities.
