2nd Roger Léron Award, for sustainable energy at regional/local level in Europe

The Roger Léron Award Ceremony 2016, organized by  FEDARENE (European Federation of Agencies and Regions for Energy and the Environment) will take place on Wednesday 15th of June, in Brussels, where the Jury will hand out the trophy. The Award is named in memory of Roger Léron, a pioneer of regional sustainable energy in Europe.

Léron is one of the FEDARENE founders who also served as its President for over a decade (1995-2007). Deeply rooted in local and regional development, he had a far-reaching vision for a greater European sustainability.

This Award acknowledges a long-standing overall contribution by an individual/organization to sustainable energy at the regional/local level in Europe. The ceremony will be the opportunity to reward the concrete contribution of women and men on the ground, who are helping us to re-think our society by supporting the energy transition and preventing further impact on our climate. The ceremony will take place at the Palace of the Academies, Throne room, 1 rue Ducale, in Brussels.

The ALTERENERGY project has presented its application to the “Roger Léron Award 2016”, too. Though the Jury has decided to shortlist four other candidates, the award promoter took great pleasure in reading the application of the lead partner Puglia Region and learning about the great work that has been carried out in ALTERENERGY project area.
