Save the date: 16/09/2016 - ALTERENERGY International Workshop in Bari

Friday, September 16th, at 9:00 am - 14.00 pm in Bari (at room n. 152), within the 80^ Fiera del Levante exhibition, one of the most important fairs in the Mediterranean area opened to the public from 10 to 18 September 2016. The International Workshop “The ALTERENERGY Community Model” is organized by the Coordination of the International Policies - Territorial Cooperation Unit of Puglia Region (lead partner).

The ALTERNERGY event gathers institutional and technical referents to share the results gained by the project, along with the future strategies within RES&RUE sectors in the Adriatic Area. A final agreement among partners on the ALTERENERGY winning model of small sustainable community is foreseen at the end of the workshop, thus ensuring the largest impact of project work on the Adriatic areas, and the future sustainability of project results.
Working on the energy sustainability of small communities, typical settlements of the coastal Adriatic area, is the main challenge of ALTERENERGY, the first Strategic Project financed within the Cross Border Cooperation Programme IPA-Adriatic 2007-2013.
With a total project budget of 12.5 Mln € and leaded by Mediterranean Department (actually renamed Territorial Cooperation Unit) of Puglia Region, with the scientific support of the Regional Agency for Technology and Innovation (ARTI Puglia), ALTERENERGY (Energy sustainability for Adriatic small communities) adopts a vision of international level to promote sustainability in small Adriatic communities through an integrated approach for the efficient use of energy and its production from renewable sources.
The project, started at the end of 2011 and to be concluded by September 2016, has developed replicable models of sustainable management of energy resources in small Adriatic municipalities through a participated approach involving public administrations, policy makers, citizens, local stakeholders and SMEs, improving their ability to plan and manage integrated actions of energy saving and the production of energy from renewable sources (RES&RUE).
ALTERENERGY relies on a partnership of 18 organizations, regions, ministries and energy agencies belonging to all the countries of the Adriatic area: Italy, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Greece, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia. 63 target communities with less than 10,000 inhabitants have been involved into an empowering process, aimed to improve their own planning capacities of integrated actions for local energy saving and production. Consequent 9 integrated green investments have been realized in as many communities, to demonstrate the feasibility of the whole process. Additional specific actions involving 108 SMEs have been carried out too, for boosting the Adriatic market of RES and RUE technologies and solutions.
