ALTERENERGY: Memorandum of Understanding Puglia Region-Sant’Agata di Puglia

The Mediterranean Department of Puglia Region, Lead Partner of ALTERENERGY project, and Sant’Agata di Puglia signed a Memorandum of Understanding to implement and test of models of sustainable management and use of energy resources in the chosen Apulian small municipality. Silvia Godelli (Regional Minister for Mediterranean Affairs) and Luigi Russo (Mayor of Sant’Agata) signed the agreement in Bari.

Training, information and capacity building for local government officials, citizens and economic operators in Sant’Agata di Puglia; analysis of energy balance and CO2 emissions in its territory, development of an Integrated Plan for Energy and Environmental Sustainability (PAES) and update of the existing energetic and environmental planning, feasibility studies for the implementation of specific actions identified in PAES, and realization of infrastructure pilot initiatives in sustainable management of energy resources are on the agenda.

Among the 60 Adriatic target communities under 10 thousand inhabitants identified in the Adriatic area, Sant’Agata di Puglia presents the best conditions to host on its territory the interventions foreseen by the ALTERENERGY Project, too. Now, the business approach of Strategic Project foresees a significant feedback in terms of local economic development, internationalization of the RES and RUE productive sectors and the definition of a cluster of Adriatic SMEs. Next step: an International Adriatic  Convention planned on 24-25 November 2014 in Albania (Tirana International Hotel) for regional stakeholders such as intermediary organizations dealing with SMEs at regional level. Objectives: enforcing the local systems institutionally providing technical assistance to regional/national SMEs for supporting their internationalization processes; sharing the results carried out by each ALTERENERGY partner to define a Vision of the internationalization process in Adriatic area for the RES/RUE Sector.
