World Tourism Day, “Alterenergy” presentation

The two days of the national event “World Tourism Day” held in Molise on 29 and 30 September 2012 registered a positive and great success in terms of quality and outputs.

The event which took place at the Palace of Culture, “ex GIL”, in Campobasso on 30 September, was a day with quality speeches, proposals and ideas for recovery the tourism sector, with many new ideas and effective proposals that came out from the conference "Tourism and sustainable energy. Drivers for a sustainable tourism". The event was attended by national and international guests and speakers.

During the conference it is has been highlighted the importance of alternative energy sources, especially for Molise region, an area that has many potential natural resources.

During the day the project "Alterenergy" (Energy Sustainability for Small Communities Adriatic), has been presented, it is a strategic project approved in the framework of the IPA Adriatic CBC Programme. The project, described by the project manager Mr. Claudio Polignano and by Mr. Massimo Pillarella, project manager for the Molise region, aims to make a significant contribution to the achievement of a higher level of sustainability concerning the production and use of energy in the Adriatic area.

Mr. Polignano explained the characteristics of the project, through the identification of small communities (ten thousand inhabitants) living in the Adriatic countries, aims to stress the importance of the culture of alternative energy sources on multiple levels of communication and through different technologies. Mr. Pillarella explained because it is technically possible to achieve this overall objective in Molise and all the several initiatives, already implemented have the target to achieve the goals set by Europe 2020 in the direction of sustainable tourism.
